The Shaw
home is situated in a residential neighborhood near the LSU campus. The
home includes the addition of a photovoltaic system. Four 120-watt Solarex
panels and four SolarWorld 175-watt panels charge the four gel-sealed batteries
which are connected to a 3000-watt Outback SmartRE inverter. This provides
uninterruptible 120/240 volts of AC power to several rooms in the home. The
outdoor SmartRE unit is located in the greenhouse and the modules are pole and
roof mounted.
